I worked like crazy yesterday to drag eight year old information out of the recesses of my mind, and finally hit the publish button around 4:30 in the morning. But it was worth it, because I could not be any happier with the final results:
With affiliate payouts of 7 to10%, even a small sale in the diamond jewelry niche can be worth around $100, with a very good sale paying over $1000. Back when I was contemplating proposing to my wife, I did an insane amount of research on the subject of loose diamonds. It was worth it; I saved over $2500 when buying my wife’s ring, allowing me to buy a much nicer diamond than I would have, had I just gone down the street to a brick and mortar store.
Now I have re-learned most of what I knew, and condensed it into a 2200 word guide to buying a loose diamond. Yes, it really is possible to save thousands of dollars by doing just a little research and buying online. It’s not the only Squidoo lens about loose diamonds, but in my opinion, it is the best.
The other high dollar niche site, which I’ve mentioned here before, is also moving along nicely. My wife has written three top-notch articles for Cruising Quest, our cruise travel blog. Just today we were accepted into two very good affiliate programs, and hope to be approved by a third (one of the BIG cruise lines!) soon. Because there’s not a lot of daily discussion items surrounding cruising, this is going to become a very pillar-heavy blog in the long run.
Google Trends shows that this is the end of the busy season for cruising related traffic, followed by an Autumn dead zone, with searches experiencing a huge surge in December and remaining heavy through Spring. We should be well-positioned to grab some of that traffic by then. We’ve agreed, this blog is how we’re paying for a Bermuda cruise next year, so if our affiliate advertising fails, we’re vacationing in glorious Central Ohio for the sixth year in a row.
