Google PageRank: May Be Good News For Some Of Us

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Court Tuttle has pointed out that some people seem to be gaining Page Rank when you use the tools that checks the Google Datacenters, such as Dig PageRank. I don’t know how accurate these tools really are, but they appear to pull the info right out of Google, so I assume they’re at least close.

If they are accurate, it looks like this site will be going from PR0 to PR3, which is pretty much what I expected to happen eventually. Good to know that I may not have to wait three to six more months after all! Looks like Emerald Nova and Cruising Quest may be getting promoted to PR3 as well. Good news for me all around :)

This may be premature, but what the hell.. congrats to my friends Patrick of $100 A Day in One Hundred Days and Fred of Newest on the Net for joining me in PR3 territory. Even bigger congrats to Helen of FrogBlogDogLog!!!! for maybe reaching P4.

<--- LIVE UPDATE --->

As I’m typing this, the toolbar ranks are starting to update. PR3’s for my sites are now showing. Additional congratulations appear to be in order for World of Angel, another new PR3, and CashQuests, a well-deserved PR5. It also looks like Andy Beard might be re-gaining the PR5 that was stolen from him. And Caroline Middlebrook, a new PR4 :)

A lot of people we poo-poo’ing Google yesterday. I have a feeling many of them will be quietly smiling and fist-pumping tonight as they regain their previous Page Ranks. I’m going to stop typing now or I’ll be updating the numbers all night long.

    Thanks so much for this post, Rich! My sites are all pretty new (none more than 6 months old),
    so I’ve never had page rank. And from what I read on line, I was afraid Google had stopped
    awarding PR (publicly at least).

    So when I went to the digrank.com site that you recommended, I was thrilled to find that
    one of my niche sites has a PR4, two have PR3, and so on down the line.

    I am so glad to find your blog through Blog Catalog.
    I’ve subscribed and will definitely be back to read more.

    I started my blog mid September. I now have PR1 on the home page and a couple of PR2 and Pr3 on the internal pages. Which proves that when people link to you PR increases. I hope its because people like my content!

    PageRank is just one factor in determining where you rank. However, having a decent PR means you can attract better advertisers and also gain more leverage in link exchanges.

    Everyone says PR doesn’t matter yet it’s all everyone talks about. I think it does matter more than most care to admit.

    Page Rank gives you something to barter if link exchanging, but has little to do with where you rank in the search engines.
