#73 On The Top 100

Following Google’s PageRank updates on Saturday, it was not surprising at all to see the Top 100 Make Money Online blogs undergo some dramatic changes. With so many blogs going PR0 to PR3 or higher, I wasn’t sure my new PR3 would be enough to keep me in the top 100, where I’d been at #99 and #100 for the last three weeks.

Although being on the list has brought a smile to my face every day since the first time I made it, let’s face it.. when you’re #100 on a top 100 list, dropping even one spot is a LOOOONG way to fall, so I was reluctant to bring any attention to it.

Not only did I stay in the top 100, but I jumped up to #73. Now I can safely brag a little :)

73 out of 100

Frankly, this means more to me than Alexa and Technorati, and in many ways is just as cool as finally having a page rank over 0. Thanks again to Mark of 45n5.com for this very cool tool.

Congratulations Rich!! I moved up to #112, but I still have a long way to go to break into the top 100.

Any tips for how you got your Technorati Authority so high?

    Thanks,
    Fred

    Fred,

I wish I could offer unique advice that could help get anyone into the top 20k on Technorati, but unfortunately, I’m not that wise. :) I owe the vast majority of it to the Wordpress 2.3 tagging article. Before that article, my authority was around 50, now it’s over 300. That’s around 250 authority for the one article and its follow-up.

That said, it’s good to see that just one very successful article can put a blogger on the map. I was lucky enough to take an interest in a soon-to-be-hot topic, and I took action before anyone else did.

    Gadgets,

Hard to tell, because my traffic has been gradually dropping lately (Traffic to the tagging article is slowing down), but I am fairly certain that the Top 100 list is referring more people than it used to. 1% of my visitors were referred from the list in October. I’ll compare that to November to see if there’s any change.

Congratulations, I have been hearing many people complain that their blog’s PR dropped dramatically but my site actually gained PR, maybe because it’s not just a blog? Idk, but keep up the quality content and link building campaign and you’ll stay above the rest
